Chair Talk

June 2022

I have been receiving complaints (email, telephone and letters) from retirees about all the brochures and information from the States Blue Cross PPO MA program. Retirees would like to have all the mail they receive about the States MA Health Plan stopped. I must be the odd-man-out because I believe the more information I receive from the State and/or Blue Cross the more I know about the Health Plan for retirees. I would hope that the SERA Chapter Insurance Representatives feel the same as I do. We are here to be the persons that can respond to the questions we receive and if we do not have the answer to the retiree’s question, we know where we can get the answers. SERA’s Insurance reps do not always have the answers a retiree needs but we have resources (Employee Benefits and Blue Cross) to help us out.

I would like to schedule a meeting for SERA Insurance Reps (with Employee Benefits and Blue Cross Reps) To teach us how best to answer questions about our Health Plan and how we can best serve our retirees. Hopefully, we can do the class in person Zoom or utilizing a conference call. This idea is something that I should have done years ago. Whenever we have Representatives from Employee Benefits, Blue Cross, Delta Dental or Optum Rx that have presentations they should be considered a training class for all of us.

The more information we have the better.
