Chair Talk

March 2015

We have been notified that the Coalition for a Secure Retirement-MI(CSR-MI) is having their 1st Annual CSR-MI Lobby Day at the Capitol. Details are:

CSR-MI Lobby Day at the Capitol
Tuesday, April 14, 2015
9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Mackinac Room
Anderson House Office Building
124 North Capitol Ave.
Lansing, MI 48933

Registration forms will be sent to all SERA Presidents and will also be available on the SERA website (mi-sera.org). I would recommend that if you plan on attending you send your forms in soon.

Cheryl Streberger and representatives of the Hantz Group have attended 9 SERA Chapter meetings to introduce the new administrators of the SERA-PLUS program. They have been well received by all the Chapters they have visited. The Hantz Group will be attending the March Executive Board meeting so that we can discuss how we go forward with the program. They will also be able to answer any questions that the Board may have. I would urge SERA Chapter Presidents send their latest membership lists to Cheryl so that current members could be contacted by the Hantz Group. I believe that the new administrators of the SERA-PLUS program will assist us in obtaining and retaining new members. There are many more benefits that the Hantz Group will offer our members. I am excited about working with the new administrators and believe that our members will be greatly helped by the Hantz Group.

I have invited Nicole Literacki and Heather Travis of the State Employee Charitible Campaign (SECC) to the March Executive Board to give us an update on the 2015 SECC retiree campaign.

Editor’s note: Bob Kopasz is Chair of the Michigan SERA Council. He may be reached at P.O. Box 692, Mt. Morris, MI 48458; phone 810/240-8380.
