Chair Talk

June 2013

I am devoting this month’s Chair Talk on the SERA-PLUS program that we are involved in with America’s Professional Services Association and Voluntary Benefits Solutions (A Division of Gallagher Benefit Services, Inc.). We are into our 16th month of a 2-year agreement. I thought it would be interesting for our members to have an idea of what this agreement has meant to us:

  1. In 2012, there were 6,284 appointments scheduled and APSA saw 4211 of them. Of the 4,211 they rescheduled 1,676 of them to use a service. There were 268 that were referred to the Law offices for estate plans. There were 174 members that took advantage of the home and auto insurance services and 149 members took advantage of the financial services.
  2. In 2013, APSA had 2,223 appointments scheduled and they saw 1,314 of them. Of the 1314, they rescheduled 484 of them to use a service. There were 97 that were referred to the Law offices for estate plans. There were 63 members that took advantage of the home and auto insurance services and 91 members used the financial services.

In summary, the total appointments scheduled were 8,507 and APSA saw 5,525 of them. APSA signed up 2,487 of them into the SERA-PLUS program. APSA rescheduled 2,160 of the members to use a service. 365 members used the estate services. 237 used the home and auto insurance services and 240 used the financial services. (The above information was supplied by Darci Barrera, Operations Manager of FSA).

The SERA-PLUS program has been a valuable recruiting tool for all 21 SERA Chapters. In reviewing the number of new members this program seems to be working better for recruitment of new members than the way our recruitment worked in the past.
